How to make ice lanterns

OK, spring might be here but I am going to share with you one of my happy thoughts from winter. Yep, suprises me too to find so many of them after all but denouncing winter.

Ice lanterns were my favorite outdoors decorations Xmas 2010. They are so lovely and really easy to do! I had totally 14 in my front yard and garden – could not be happier with the views. It was very cold in December, so making the ice lanterns was actually surprisingly fast also.

Let’s help

Sea of HopeOne of the best part of Xmas spirit in my mind is caring. Caring by helping those who are less fortunate than we are. This feeling of helping and reaching out to our fellow men is a spirit I hope stays alive all year long, not just a few weeks in December.

 Right now there are so many regions in the world where people have been hit by hard times. Japan, New Zealand, Africa, Haiti, Chile.. And I am sure there are people even more near each and every one of us in need of help. If you have time to volunteer in an organization I think that is a wonderful thing. However, even those of us who don’t seem to find the time to do that can help: by donating regularly to an organization which has the tenacity to keep on helping even when the media and our attention moves to the next event.

SpringWell, I was just reading my last post and wow, did I get what I wished for. After the post winter truly rocked on. Actually it rocked on such a cold weather that my newly found peace and embracing the winter came to a quick .. halt. Really, how much snow and frost is a gal supposed to be able to embrace?  Well, this one could not take all that was given and I truly fell into a hibernation.

The weird part is, that my relaxed” happy go” life style sort of fell off the map at the same time. It has been a surprise how easy it is to fall back to old habits. But I suppose that is why so many New Year’s resolutions sort of fade away by the time winter is over.
